Currently, banks spend a long time reviewing requests

— The Bank of Russia constantly identifies numbers used by fraudsters and sends information about them to telecom operators for subsequent blocking. In 2021, we initiated the blocking of more than 179 thousand phone numbers used by fraudsters to steal money from citizens, which is 6.7 times more than the previous year.

In February-March of this year, we recorded a significant

decrease in the activity of telephone scammers. According to this year we have seen a sea-change in focus  preliminary data, in the first quarter of 2022, we initiated the blocking of approximately 90 thousand fraudulent telephone numbers. However, compared to the first quarter of 2021, there is still a strong increase in telephone fraud – a year earlier, the number of numbers blocked on our initiative was 6.1 thousand.
